Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.
Hi Min. Constance Crawford,
Do you see the CD/DVD drive listed in My Computer?
In order to diagnose the issue, you may check in device manager if there is any error code for CD/DVD drive:
a. Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in the Start, Run box and press Enter on the keyboard.
b. In device manager, expand the CD/DVD drive listed in the device list.
c. Double click on it & check the information in device status.
Let’s follow these methods & check if the issue persists:
Method 1
You may run the “Fix it” tool from this link:

Method 2
You may follow this link & check if the issue reoccurs:

Hi Min. Constance Crawford,
1. What is the make & model of your computer?
2. Does the CD/DVD drive came along with the computer or it is a replacement?
As per the CD/DVD drive manufacturer’s website, the device is not compatible with Windows XP:
http://www.sony-optiarc.eu/products/archive/dvddrivesdesktoppcs/ad7200a.html
If your computer is OEM (Original equipment Manufacturer) build and the device is original to the computer, you may download the CD/DVD drivers from the computer manufacturer’s website.
Hope the information helps.

It is a ZT Reliant model number b202Ia, running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 and the Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200A came pre-installed. The information in the BIOS also listed an ATAPI CD-ROM. We have attached a Western Digital External Hard drive and most of our documents (except the financial records) are saved to a flash drive even though we have a 500 GB. I thought they might have the driver that I needed but they only offer firmware. The attachment contains our System Information. ZT Systems website does not have a driver for the DVD/CD RW drive under Windows XP. They told me to reinstall the Chipset driver which I did, and it didn't work. So on the off chance I just reinstalled all of the drivers listed hoping that one of them would solve the problem. It didn't.
At one point the computer was down because Microsoft asked for verification of the operating system. Although the Product Key is for Windows Vista Business, we downgraded to Windows XP Professional when we ordered. The company sent us a disk with the Product Key imbedded in it for the XP and after running the disk I no longer was no longer able to use the DVD RW drive. The original disk for Windows XP and the drivers that came with the computer were taken or misplaced shortly after our church purchased the computer. We still have the Windows Vista installation disk as well as the drivers for it, but we don't want the upgrade. The company has suggested sending the tower to them, but we have all of our financial records on the computer and we use it daily, so that is not an option. Also because we are small in number and our finances are limited we cannot afford to order the replacement disks at this time. This is probably too much information and if it is I apologize but I am at a loss as to what to do. Add to that on yesterday the computer crashed and I don't know the cause. I've run CCleaner to clean the registry and delete all unnecessary files in hopes that that would solve the problem.
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to offer.
Minister Constance Crawford
