Welcome to ALEKS Support
Institutions or instructors may require students to take certain ALEKS assignments in Respondus LockDown Browser, which is a secure testing browser that restricts students from accessing other applications. LockDown Browser can be required for ALEKS tests, quizzes, scheduled Knowledge Checks, and PPL Placement Assessments. Respondus Monitor, a companion application for LockDown Browser, can also be required for assignments that require LockDown Browser. Respondus Monitor uses students' webcams to record a video as they complete the assignment, and flags suspicious activity for the institution or instructor to review.

I am not able to install LockDown Browser
Windows 10 using S mode
Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode.
To switch out of S mode in Windows 10 go to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4456067/windows-10-switch-out-of-s-mode
LockDown Browser is not launching
Browser not compatible error message
This is often caused when a user opens the LockDown browser, then logs into ALEKS. To resolve this, please log into ALEKS from a regular web browser, like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, and access your test/assignment. See https://respondus.knowledgeowl.com/home/d2l---lockdown-browser-shouldnt-be-started-manually for more info.
