Adobe Flash files are a popular way to create dynamic animations for websites because they are easy to create, fast and interactive. In addition, it is more difficult to download a .swf file than an image file or an embedded video file because no saving options appear when you right-click on the flash file. This makes it difficult if you want to view this information when you are trying to view the web page offline. Fortunately, Safari and Firefox both have an option to download .swf files from a web page onto your Mac.

Step 1

Open the web page that contains the Flash file.

Step 2

Select "Activity" from the "Window" menu.

Step 3

Locate the file that contains ".swf" in the name under "Address."

Step 4

Hold down the "Option" key and double-click on the .swf file. The file will download to your default download folder.
